100 Wins

Congratulations to Coach Doherty for racking up win number 100 last night. The impact that he has had on the Men's Basketball program from the moment he stepped on campus has been extraordinary, and I think the entire community owes him our thanks for pushing our team to be as competitive as they have been.

Things could have gotten quite ugly this year given a new coaching staff coupled with the controversial manner in which Coach Tubbs left, and it is a tribute not only to the coach but also his players that our men blocked out all the nonsense and focused on what is important. 10-3 is quite an accomplishment, and I am sure there is plenty more where that came from. For the first time in a while I am really excited to see what this program can do, and I hope that our students will get over to Moody and watch the drama unfold.

I travel a lot, so I am at the mercy of SI.com and other such sites to keep track of our games. I was disturbed to read that there were only slightly over 1,000 people at the game last night. Granted, getting up for UT-Pan Am probably doesn't sound all that appealing, but the fact is these guys prepped for that game as hard as they will for a team like Memphis, and the least the student body can do is go out there and show there support by cramming as many seats as possible at Moody. This crew is going to be something special, and I would think the SMU community would like to watch it unfold.

Congratulations, guys and best wishes for continued success. We all hope to see you play in March. GO MUSTANGS!!!
